In pur 3rd week back now and work is well under way for the next crit exhibition. Moving on from my work last term and also induced by the artist James Lee Byers. Moving away from wall based work and looking at sculpture in an environment. And the contrast between the new object placed into a forien landscape.
The object was wrapped with gold foil and put into the landscape of a ruin. The ruin was Waverley Abbey and against this back drop the work looked like a satalight which had crashed into earth.
The problem was that the work was overshadowed by it surrounding and the structure needed to be bigger. But as a first step into Land serficic sculpture it was successful.
