Arts Funding

Looking at funding for exhibitions major companies eg BP or most Banks sponsor the main galleries like the Tate and National and also the arts council. But little shows and for emerging artist little to no support is ever given. But why do these organizations and government / tax payers money get given to these show when independent galleries but on big exhibitions and make a profit of them and also let the general public in for free?

Reading an article in a newspaper and seeing how Charles Saatchi Chelsea gallery which people visit as much as the Tate made a profit over £1million pounds questions why these big institutions do not have selling shows so that the money which is usaly given yo them could end up supporting young artist in there careers.
